Président

A shedding game played in rounds: beat the last play, empty your hand first, and hold on to the title of President in the next round.

At a glance

How it works

Président is played with a deck of fifty-two cards, dealt out in full. The 3 is the lowest card, the 2 the highest. The player who leads plays a single card, a pair, three of a kind or four of a kind; each player in turn must play the same number of cards, of a rank at least as strong, or pass.

The first player to get rid of all their cards becomes President; the last one inherits the lowest rank at the table. These titles are not just for show: in the next round, the last player has to give their best cards to the President.

What makes it fun

Each round reshuffles the cards, but not the roles: the President of the previous round starts with an advantage, the last player with a handicap. So you have to win once, then hold on to your rank — or claw your way back up.

The “or nothing” rule changes everything: when a player plays the same rank as the play before, the next player must play that rank or pass. A pair of 7s played on a pair of 7s can block the player who was counting on playing their 8s.

Playing online, with friends or against bots

A Président table is created in one click and shared with a code; it can also be opened to the public lobby. If players are missing, bots take the empty seats and play by the same rules.

The server deals, handles the exchange and keeps the score: nobody sees anyone else’s hand, and the card exchange happens by itself, without anyone having to choose what to give.
